Ashton Agar is the latest addition to Australian test team. Ashton made his first test appearance at the 1st match of the 2013 Ashes and he set two world records in his first game. He is still nineteen year of age (Born on October 14, 1993) and he was able to show lot of character in his debut game. This young Australian hero has a half Sri Lankan origin.
Aston is a slow left arm orthodox bowler and a left hand bat. He has represented Australia under 19 and under 23 team. Then he played in Australia A team before winning the test cap.
Ashton Agar’s parents are Sonia Hewawissa and john Agar. His mother Soniya is the daughter of Arjuna Nala Hewawissa and Sheilah Hewawissa who have migrated to Australia. Ashton’s mother Soniya was just 12 year old when she her parents came to Australia along with her siblings Sherene, Rowan (dec), and Ajith. Ashton grandfather Nala Hewawissa himself has been a cricketer representing Darmaraja College cricket team. His grandmother Sheilah Hewawissa has worked in Ceylon Tea Board before migrating to Australia.
Ashton’s maternal grandfather Arjun Nala Heawissa passed away in August, 2011. Hewawissa sports complex at Dharmarajah College is in his memory.
Ashton’s father John has also played cricket and he played for Prhran Cricket club. Ashton is the only teenager to debut in a Ashes test in 48 years. Ashton is not only good in cricket but he has excelled in education as well. He had to postpone the entry to Deakin University to do a degree in Law due to his commitments in cricket.
